Ah, the last of my Netherland journey: Scheveningen!
Another blustery day, but by now I was getting used to it. Plus is was super sunny so who cares that I don’t have a hat right!?
While, I personally am not a fan of being in water, I must say that I love being around water. There is something innately peaceful about it. The sounds of it, and Scheveningen is no exception. Water as far as the eye can see, beach as far as you can see. This must truly be an amazing place to be in the summer (packed, I’m sure!).
Even though it was a chilly day in May, and the water was probably frigid, that didn’t stop the most intense from taking advantage of the winds for some wind-surfing! This was the first time that I’ve ever really seen it in person, so it was pretty amazing when you could see how much air they got, and could do some incredible jumps!
We walked along the boardwalk, past all the beachside restaurants, and towards the look-out. We didn’t actually end up going all the way, it was a bit chill and we were getting hungry! Plus, our aunt – still fit as a fiddle, wasn’t up for a walk of that distance. She is in her 80’s after all!
Deciding that we needed a little bit of sustenance and a warm drink, we headed to one of the beach-side restaurants, where we pleasantly passed the afternoon and evening. Continually ordering drinks and food, we chatted until the sun went down. Coby went out and took many pictures of the sunset, and it was a perfectly ideal way to spend the day.
Last, but definitely not least. I feel like this trip I’ve gotten such a more diverse taste of the whole of the Netherlands than my brief stint with Andrew. I definitely feel at home in this country, and would easily be able to live here with my little farm of animals, riding my bike every where.
