Tis that time of year! When the country comes to the city! This year Mom and I made it a mom and daughter day out, and went on a Saturday. I must say, that last year we went after work on a Tuesday, and while I really prefer going during the week it just wasn’t feasible with my schedule this year.
Oy. It was quite a busy day, and Mom and I tackled it in quite a different manner this year as well. Mom arrived at my place just after 9.30am, and was finally able to meet at least one of Andrew’s parents. We walked down the street to the Go station, and waited the 45 minutes until the next train came. We accidentally missed the one that would have gotten us there earlier. Not that it really mattered since we didn’t really have a “timeline” that we were following. More time for us to chat, and have a good time.
We arrive at the Exhibition and purchased tickets to get in. Annoyingly, we weren’t allowed to keep our tickets so I have nothing to scrapbook. I griped about that all day with my mom, bless her she just put up with it. We immediately start browsing the booths and make a purchase within the first 30 minutes of arriving. It was a little bit heavy to carry around all day, but definitely worth it! We wandered through the booths, oohing and ahhing over many of the wares, a lot of them handmade in Canada. Support the locals! I’ll be doing a separate post on the purchases that I made.
Oddly enough, we didn’t even go through the horse barn, we just wandered through the cattle and sheep barn. We kind of ran out of time to see the horses, and I knew that I had a friend in the cattle barn. It was great to be able to see him again, and meet his new girlfriend. I’ve made the decision to try and keep in better contact with old friends, mainly him.
