Life :: Love and Life Celebrations

This weekend, I attended the wedding of two high school friends. Ridiculously casual, it was the perfect in it’s break from tradition.

A very small affair, something that the bride and groom were adamant on. Around 35 people, close friends and family, the ceremony was lovely. A few laughs when the dog’s collar slipped off as she was walking in. In a gazebo beside the lake, vows were exchanged, and a couple eyes tearbright [mine included]. No official photographer, just a couple of friends with really nice cameras taking excessive pictures. It seemed like no one was really sitting down. Lots of cheers when they were finished and even more pictures being taken. We all pitched in to dismantle the area, and then walked up to the reception hall.

Appetizers of cheeses, breads, and fruit awaited us, as we mingled getting drinks, finding our seats and signing the sign. Watching the slide show of pictures, laughing at the really young ones and reminiscing over the memories. A delicious dinner was followed by touching speeches and some random fun dancing. So non-traditional, most of the “first dances” didn’t even last the whole song. At around 9.30 we headed back to the cottage, changed out of our fancy clothes, threw on some track pants and sweaters for a bonfire on the beach.

No stress, no drama. Absolute perfection. Even Andrew was saying that’s what he wants in a wedding. Now if I can just get him to propose…

Congratulations to the amazing couple, HJ and Kate!!
