Life :: Budget Realness

I like that rent cost!

Ok, it’s time to get serious about my budget. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I am terrible with my money. I can dish out advice like nobodies’ business, but when it comes to myself… whole other story. OMG, I’m a Becky Bloomwood. Except without all the debt. Phew.

There are many inspiring bloggers out there who seems to have it together, and amazing sources of income that allow them to purchase Celine bags [I’ve researched, those things ain’t cheap]. Even more inspiring are the ones that come out and say, “I’m terrible at budgeting and I’m an impulse shopper. This is what I did to help curb that”. That to me is inspiring.

And now, that I’ve paid off my credit card, it’s time for a fresh start. Fresh rent amounts, more room for saving, still have crappy school payments, but that’s life.

Fresh start = fresh budget.
I need to include more savings, less shopping. A monthly shopping budget. A monthly vacation budget. A monthly RRSP budget [still intact]. And pretty much pool everything else with Andrew [food, rent, cable]. Sounds like a good plan? I’m going to really work out my money for each dime. I’m looking forward to this again. I think I’m going to open up some new bank accounts so that I have money every where, but also so that it’s a bit easier to keep my money in different “jars”. The tough part is that I don’t know how much rent and utilities are going to be because it is a new place. I’ll have a better idea once we move in together.
I’m hoping that living with someone will help me keep on track with my good food eating and budget-wise. Plus, I want to seriously do some traveling next year, so that’ll be good incentive right? It’ll definitely be good to try to stick to my budget, and only spend x number of dollars a month, and if I don’t spend it, it’ll just transfer over to the next month.

I’ll definitely be updating about this topic, because it’s something that I need to keep on top of.
