Holiday Recap Part I

Happy Monday everyone! As much as it’s sad to be back at work, and back to reality, such is life. And it’s also really good to be back home. I think the best part of yesterday was taking a shower… and then sleeping in my own bed. Perfect!

Taking off the spare tire.
But let’s start at the beginning of last week, shall we? Friday we had a little bit of a late start, and it’s a blessing and a curse that we did. Andrew had to drop some things off in the area, and when he was coming back to the truck he noticed something odd about the trailer bumper. Yup, it was falling off. And that’s where all the supports are for the beds, the crank to raise it up, everything important was back there. So we emptied it out, put it all in the truck bed, and rachet-strapped it together. Ghetto, but effective. So we head off. Only to get stuck in mega amounts of traffic coming out of Toronto. Awesome. We finally get chugging through that, when we go through an underpass, and hear this strange sound. We look around and don’t see anything out of the ordinary so continue on, when I see this car pass us and the girl in the backseat is going crazy, pointing at us. So we pull over, and sure enough, the spare tire had fallen and was dragging creating sparks. So Andrew had to take that off, and then we finally got back on the road. Those slight delays had us arriving in Cornwall [usually just over 4 hours] around 9pm. We just made it there in time for a late dinner at St. Hubert’s [om nom coleslaw! This stop had me craving coleslaw my entire trip]. We headed over to the Walmart, undid one side of the trailer, and caught a quick nap.
Om nom chicken, and salad!!
Good morning Montreal!
3.30am. Waking up kind of sucked. Went to Timmies and grabbed some food and a tea, and then we continued on our merry way. Andrew drove through Montreal, and there was no one on the roads [just how he wanted it] and we were out of the city before any traffic could slow us down. Outside of Montreal, we switched so he could get a bit more sleep, and I drove for a couple hours. It’s a really peaceful drive that early in the morning. We watched the sunrise, and then cursed it as it was directly in our line of sight…
Cute little restaurant in Riviere-du-Loup!
We made it to Riviere-du-Loup around brunch time, as the restaurant we chose was still serving breakfast foods. Yummy crepes! Quick stop at the grocery store and we continued on to New Brunswick!
