February ‘What The Future Holds’ FairyLoot | Stationery

This theme brings forth some dystopian vibes to me.

Usually, in YA themes, the future never holds anything that great. Or, specifically, the future has become terrible and requires uprising against. It’s definitely a theme that holds true to our current political climate as well as just throughout a lot of series when I was a teen. Hunger Games, Divergent, Lunar Chronicles… they all are about the younger generation rising up and correcting wrongs.

Future Holds

And this month’s book inspirations reflect that! Drawing on series such as the Lunar Chronicles, Spin the Dawn, Red Rising, and Warcross this month’s theme of What the Future Holds is accurately depicted.

So I’ve never read the Red Rising series, but damn if this pillow case doesn’t make me want to jump right into it. Maybe it’ll be one that I can read and actually commit to reading it all the way through. At least the series is completed? But getting pillowcases are one of my favourite book box items to receive.

The next best thing to receive in a box is candles. So getting another Flick The Wick candle inspired by the Lunar Chronicles character IKO is awesome. Sometimes the scent can be a bit hit or miss since I’m sensitive, but this one is delicious!

I love getting fairy lights and anything moon-shaped is a win in my eyes.

They’re very cute and I’ll need to figure out a place for all of them. Time to do a little pinning on Pinterest! The enamel pin with a quote from the Villains series by V.E. Schwab is well designed too. I love the quote and I love pins. This went straight to my bulletin board!

This cutlery set is so nice. It’s actually nicer than the cutlery that I currently have at my house. I love the gold colour and the addition of the quote on the handles is super nice. They have a great weight on them and I can’t wait to use them. The box is super nice too – I don’t know if I’d keep it just for the cutlery since they also have a soft bag to keep them safe. I might use the box as a pencil case, but who knows! The quotes are from the Warcross series (another one I haven’t read yet…) If anything these boxes are just adding to my To-Be-Read list!

February’s ‘What the Future Holds’ inspired book is This Golden Flame by Emily Victoria.

Future Holds

Orphaned and forced to serve her country’s ruling group of scribes, Karis wants nothing more than to find her brother, long ago shipped away. But family bonds don’t matter to the Scriptorium, whose sole focus is unlocking the magic of an ancient automaton army.

In her search for her brother, Karis does the seemingly impossible—she awakens a hidden automaton. Intelligent, with a conscience of his own, Alix has no idea why he was made. Or why his father—their nation’s greatest traitor—once tried to destroy the automatons.

Suddenly, the Scriptorium isn’t just trying to control Karis; it’s hunting her. Together with Alix, Karis must find her brother…and the secret that’s held her country in its power for centuries.

This is probably the fastest I’ve gotten a Fairyloot post up so I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I only got this last week and I’m still a little shocked that I’ve gotten the post up for it. I’m looking forward to this book, it sounds interesting! I’m extremely excited about the fact that this is a stand-alone book. This is a little more encouraging for me to read it. Sometimes, I just want a story to wrap up in one book!

This book cover and art is stunning with red sprayed edges. I love the artwork on the actual hardcover as well. Such a nice touch.

Looking forward to next month’s ‘Frozen Fables’ themed box, which I just got the email shipped out this week!
