Welcome to the newest spa in Yorkville: Damara Day Spa!
This past Thursday, I headed into the city for the grand opening of Damara Day Spa to learn about its new owners and the newest treatments.
Located in the trendy heart of Yorkville on Avenue Road, it’s already luxurious. It’s fairly easy to get to, between St George and Bay subway stations, with public parking directly across the street. Other than dealing with Taylor Swift-mania clogging the roads, it would have been a seamless journey there.
The spa itself is relaxing and much larger than it looks! It has about 10 rooms, including 2 lounges (women-only, and co-ed). They are known for the couple’s treatments and packages. They have an area for manicures and pedicures and a cute tea room. The reception staff is welcoming and friendly; everyone is ready and willing to help you choose your needs.
They highlighted 3 of the new brand treatments they will offer: Dermaquest, ProCell Therapies, and the new GeneoX facial.
Dermaquest Resurfacing Facial Treatments
Dermaquest is based on research on replicating plant stem cells to create skincare that’s sustainable, ecologically friendly and cruelty-free.
They offer 8 targeted collections to fully customize your treatment and support after your treatment with at-home care. The reps were super friendly and so nice to talk to. I like the sound of their Essentials line or their DermaClear line (for acne/blemish-prone skin).
ProCell Therapies
I didn’t manage to get to talk to the ProCell rep, she had already wrapped up by the time I finished with the others, but this I believe is microchanneling using stem cell research. It stimulates the collagen production in your skin.
GeneoX / OxyGeneo
The GeneoX Super Facial is the one I got the most information from, and the one I got to try out. This is a TriPollar facial system using an RF (radio frequency) wand (you can add this), an Ultrasound Wand, and the Pod applicator wand.
RF is done first. Generally, it’s done on the upper face (eyebrow/cheek) and it warms up the area to 41 degrees quickly and can maintain that temperature consistently for even results. This heat temperature shrinks the collagen creating a lifted look to your skin.
Then, they apply a water-based gel to your skin to oxygenate your skin. Using CO2 to gas your face (this part just feels like a massage) and bring the oxygen to the surface of the skin. Using the dry pod, this is massaged onto the face. As it interacts with the gel it becomes foaming and is a controlled microdermabrasion treatment and exfoliant.
They offer many different solutions (Hydrate, Protect, GlamGold, Retouch, Illuminate, etc) all with custom ingredients. After this is removed from your face, another serum with Hyaluronic Acid is applied and using the Ultrasound wand, sonicates the serum which breaks the molecules down to get the highest amount of absorption into the skin and deeper tissues. This is done as a massage on the face.
The results should last about a month, and the recommended treatment is once a month. (Can you tell that I talked with the trainer/rep for a long time?) This facial feels amazing and is a great place to start as a beginner to facials.
Other Services
Damara also offers a full lineup of massages, manicures, pedicures, couples services (massage and aesthetic), and hair removal. It’s very popular for couples to attend together and spend the day in relaxation.

I love it when you can create a specific bundle at spas! They are currently offering a Pick 3 Treatments plus Lunch for $249. Choosing between facials, manicures, pedicures, or massages, it’s a great way to spend the day and just get a little midweek relaxation in!

I loved learning more about all the brands and the medical aesthetician side of beauty.
