Review :: Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

Eyeko1

I’m still a little shocked that I’ve been able to keep up with my beauty product reviews so far. I clearly buy more make-up/beauty related items than I thought!

This was a little bit of a splurge buy. I knew that I needed a new black eye liner when I walked into Sephora, but I wasn’t 100% sure which one I wanted. I didn’t even do all of the preliminary research that I normally do before buying any kind of make-up item. I went in and straight to the Top Eye Liner display that was there, and perused that. This one was there, but I wanted to go around and see if I could find the Eyeko area of the store – No dice there. I couldn’t find it! It might have been a small area, but still. It was busy enough that I didn’t feel like inquiring either.

I walked around drawing lines of liner on my hand from pretty much every single brand that had an eye liner pen style. Ever since I was introduced to this style of eye liner, I’ve been hooked. It’s so much easier to use, and apply that why would you ever use the traditional eye liner in a pot? I chose this one because price-wise it was the cheapest of the lot [at $19.00 CDN]. The pen is a good size and thickness, and it has a nice tip. It has a great black pigment, some weren’t as strong a black as this one, and it flows quite nicely.

Some tips:
+ Keep it tip down when storing it, seems to make the liner flow nicer when applying.
+ Try and get the line in almost one shot. It seems to get tacky and stops applying colour when you try to go over a line too many times.
+ Also, I shake it in between applying to my eyes, to get the colour flowing.
+ I haven’t tried this myself, but many reviews online say that it dries out extremely quickly. I haven’t noticed this personally, but I store it upside down. Reviewers are suggested to dip tip in water before applying as well, to get it to flow better.

I like this because you can definitely get a very thin line across the lash line, but I favour a thicker winged look, so that’s what I do. It was very easy to get a handle on it, and dries quick enough that it doesn’t smudge your eyelid when you go to apply the other eye. I definitely think that this is worth the re-buy, and worth the money!

Looking online, it comes on a variety of colours, so I’m actually tempted to see if I can find the stand in the store! Have you tried anything from the Eyeko line? Would you recommend this brand?
