The Royal 2011

Via Google.

Here it is! One of the best parts about November (other than the obviously classy Movember) is the return of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair to Toronto.

I love it. Usually I go see a horse show (something like the rodeo, or the Equine Extravaganza) but this year, nothing really was happening that I wanted to see. So no show. Saves you some money there at least. This year was just spent wandering through the animals, looking at all the cute goats, piglets, cattle, through the educational booths about Ontario and Ontario grown food. It’s the best because there’s always free samples of goodies around the booths. One was giving testers of all the apples (new favourite: Honey Crisp!), another was giving out PEI potatoes (snatched up 3 of those!) and all the jam testers YUM. This year I actually bought jam, and its soo yummy. I need crackers so I can munch on jam as a snack. Om nom nom. The Royal is such a mix of yummy foods (like fudge) and seeing all the animals, and shopping for me.

Shopping! Mom got me my birthday present, this gorgeous blue jacket. I had my eye on another one but it was a little out of my budget (at $549.00). Maybe a gift next year? I bought Mal’s Christmas present, bought some nice warm socks for my boots, and the jam. No big purchases like last year, but Andrew was very worn out by the end of it. He was not expecting to stay for roughly 6 hours just wandering around. He held up pretty well though. Won’t lie, my legs were killing me afterwards!

It was a great day, they seemed to have changed some things around so people actually could find the butter sculptures and the winners of cheese etc. I love spending the day at the Royal, you always bump into someone you know. I met 3 people I knew.

Saving my pennies for next year…
xoxo
