Dressage :: Lesson 2.9.12

Via Tumblr.

Ho hum. Private lesson last night, Bridget had a dinner work thing. Again. Not that it’s a huge deal, but it definitely sucks for her.

Oh man. Once a month, the lesson just isn’t what I want to be doing. Wednesdays is always my hardest day as well, and during that day I just want to curl up in bed and sleep forever. Work and riding, bedamned! Sadly, I just can’t do that, so I suck it up and get on with my life. Generally, even though I feel like shit, my lesson goes always surprisingly well. Maybe it’s because I’ve given up, and don’t fight anymore, that she actually listens to me, or I don’t know what else, but lessons are good. Plus, it’s exercise so it helps me not hurt… as much.

I rode Tiffany last night, as Bridget wasn’t there, and it was intense. I mean, all lessons are intense, but this one was a different kind. We were working on bringing her into a frame, and she was rather resistant, but in a different way than Gillian is. Tiffany just sticks her head up and rushes through everything. Gillina pushes out her shoulders and bullies her way through. It was really good because I got her to a point where she was giving, and chewing the bit, and worked her through it. Looked really good! And then after the lesson Debbie gave me some pointers on how to work with Gillian to acheive the same thing. Because she bulges out her shoulders, it’s all about seat, and counter flexion on the turn so that she can’t over run you. But I must be aware of how my body is reacting! The inside seatbone must be on. Your body has to ride completely different than what your mind thinks. So confusing.
On a different barn note, the kittens are super, super adorable. I could totally take them home and have a house full of white cats… Why not?!? Look at how cute they are!
That’s Kumo’s mom, and I guess his two younger siblings!
Yes, I will one day be able to move my body in 14 different ways at one time. At least, I hope so!

xoxo
