Movie :: The Perks of Being A Wallflower

Via Tumblr.

I did not read the book before watching this movie. I definitely want to read the book, now that I’ve seen the movie.

From reading reviews, I do feel that the movie helped explain somethings about Charlie’s past that we never know about until the end of the movie, that come off as confusing in the book. Well, maybe confusing isn’t the right word. Probably “open-ended” in the book, as it’s open to more interpretation from the reader.

I loved the cast, very well done. Charlie is played by the same actor in The Three Musketeers (d’Artagnan), and he does a superb job. It can’t be easy to play a mentally unstable character, with so much past emotional angst. Emma Watson is so cute, and love her hair. She does a great job as Sam, and Charlie’s “love interest”. The actor who plays Patrick is amazing. Totally love him. It’s a sad movie, poignant, and relatable even if something traumatizing hasn’t happened to you. The trials of high school are enough for most people to relate to, let alone with something hanging over you that you can’t quite remember or get rid of.

This movie is a great one, my rating: 4/5 stars. Definitely recommend!
