Toronto :: Bruno Mars Concert

If you follow me on any social media site, you’ll know that my amazing boyfriend surprised me with tickets to the Bruno Mars concert on Saturday night. Sadly, he couldn’t come with me so told me to take Briana along. He was able to drop us off though, so that was a weight off of my shoulders.

It was amazing.
I was so surprised when he told me about it, because I knew that his buddy had bought tickets and was trying to sell them. I told him that I would love them, but since he already had a buyer, I thought nothing more of them. But that buyer fell through [seems to happen a lot via the Internet], and his buddy gave them to Andrew. Who then gave them to me. And made me a very, very happy girl. I probably still haven’t thanked him properly yet. He definitely outdid himself, because I gave him a chocolate bar that was shaped like a hockey stick to him before he left for work as a surprise, and twenty minutes later he’s surprising me with tickets. He definitely knows how to 1-up me. Good thing it’s not a competition [it totally is, and he totally won].

We did head down early in order to see Ellie Goulding open for Bruno, because I love her and think she’s adorable. I always feel a little bad for the opening act because no one is really paying attention. They’re walking around finding seats, grabbing beers, talking loudly, and there’s Ellie up there singing her heart out. I enjoyed it, although her instrumentation was louder than her mic, so it was hard to hear her at some points, but she was good.

After about an hour of technical difficulties, Bruno finally came on stage, and he was really appreciative of us waiting. And it was definitely worth the wait. As this was my first time at a concert at any kind of big venue, it was definitely a great one to start off with. The use of pyrotechnics, lighting, and everything was so well orchestrated and he had us up on our feet dancing the night away. I was happy because he sang all of my favourite songs [Natalie and Gorilla], so I had a great time. I think one of the best things was that it showcased his actual talent as an artist and a performer. He played the guitar and the drums, and he was dancing and singing all night. It was really cool to see so much more instrumental aspects with longer intro’s to songs that aren’t normally there. Sometimes I really dislike live music, but he was even better than his recorded album. Always a plus. Ah, I have pretty much no words for that night. [Other than I need a way better camera, because mine sucked at taking photos!]. So sadly, you’ll just have to deal with the crappy photos.

I took so many, but they literally all look like crap. And I got none of him… they all turned out blurry!

The end of the night was a bit of a strange thing, I sat on an anthill that I couldn’t see in the dark while waiting for Andrew, so had stinging bites from them. It felt like I sat in nettles it hurt so bad. Then Andrew called saying that his truck died and wouldn’t be able to pick us up, so we grabbed a taxi. And sat in traffic, and when we finally made it home, I literally crashed. I was so tired! And had to be up at a decent time in the morning.

But it was totally worth it.
