Toronto :: National Ballet presents Swan Lake

Gorgeous.

I think that’s the only word that really sums up what Swan Lake was like. A classic ballet performance, and stunningly done by Svetlana Lunkina and Evan Mckie.

We went to the last performance, and it was amazing. The costumes are just so pretty, and so intricate. Definitely a tragic romance. Everything done by the National Ballet is always visually stunning. From the scene backdrops, to the music, to the dancers, it’s always very well done. This time we went early enough to enjoy a beverage and a snack before the show, mingling while we waited for the sign to take our seats. It was nice to have the day to just relax and not be rushed getting downtown after work, or something like that.

It was lovely because they had a couple of the costumes from past performances on display, it was interesting to see the difference in the years!

Siegfried – 1967

Siegfried – 1967 [I prefer this one!]
Odile – 1957

The costumes were all so stunning, and the whole performance was brilliantly done. If you didn’t get a chance to see it this time, it’ll probably be back in a couple of years so I definitely recommend you try to make it out for that!
Some other noteworthy performances left this season: Onegin, Spectre de la Rose & Opus, Cinderella, Romeo & Juliet
