Travel :: Day 1 In Vancouver

This was an exciting weekend. We shopped way to much, and had lots of fun. Surprisingly enough, I was able to go-go-go this entire weekend. But hey, that’s what vacation is for, is it not?

We arrived in Vancouver roughly around 6.30ish, and went to pick up some Indian food for dinner, which was delicious, but killed me in the spicy department. We just chilled around the house (we stayed at her mom’s house) that night, because after a day of driving we didn’t feel like doing anything. We watched Beastly while eating Indian, and then her cousin and his girlfriend arrived later that night as well.

We were supposed to go down to Seattle the Saturday, but due to lost passports we ended up just shopping in Richmond… and Vancouver… and then going to the Aquarium for a bit. We headed to the mall early, and met up with Mal’s friend, Megan. We went shopping there for a bit (aka a few hours) and then went for lunch downtown at a yummmy Mexican restaurent. MM. Soo much food though. I had gotten the burrito with steak (yum) but it was HUGE. And came with Mexican rice, and salad. I ate about half of everything. It was so good though. They had amazing salsa. Methinks that I’m going to have to start making my own…. I started off really good though, was so hungry. Shopping works up an appetite. It was funny because Mal had an incident in the bathroom, and Megan had to go to work, so it happened that we went back to Megan’s condo to drop her and the dogs off, and then we went out quickly to pick up something to fix Mal’s issue, and rushed back home to get ready for dinner.

Dinner was exciting. I was meeting Mal’s new amour (that sounds like so much potential!) and seeing an old friend that I’ve managed to keep in touch with for the past 4 years. I met him through Mal, during one night of drunken debacles at college, and while baby sitting, talked to him all night online. It was the start of a beautiful online friendship. The first time I went out there, I met him, and we continued talking. I was happy that he came out. At dinner, at the Red Door, Mal and I were a bit late in coming, and so Patrick and Lindsay were already there. Awkward because they didn’t know each other, but they’re both pretty chatty so it was alright. Lindsay is one of Mal’s friends from her old barn. Patrick is her new amour!! That was exciting to meet. He’s awesome though, the first thing after introducing each other was that he liked my shoes. HAH. Good taste. It was a good night out. He’s easy to talk too, has similar humour, and they look cute together. I approve! Sadly though, we went out to a bar, and Mal suddenly felt nauseous and had to go. So it was just Cleve, Lindsay and I partying it up in a bar that had an older crowd. It was fine, but awkward. We ended up leaving a little bit later. Danced a bit, and then sat and tried to talk/watch the movies that were playing randomly. Funnily enough, we didn’t get hit on while dancing (which is good) but we had 3 guys come up to us once we sat down. There was one guy on the dance floor that was aiming for Lindsay but ew, he was old. And awkward, and creepy. He ended up grinding with some random girl. It was rather disgusting… Lindsay and I just kept laughing at them. Two guys came up to me when we were sitting down, and the one was trying and the other was just along for the moral support. The first guy started talking to me but once I mentioned that I was from Toronto, his friend and I started talking. Then the first guy started talking to Lindsay, until they decided that they needed more drinks. Aka weren’t getting anywhere with us. The next guy came up and asked if I was someone that he went to school with, which was funny because later when telling Mal she said SHE knew who he was asking about. What are the odds. He didn’t stay very long, and then just before we were leaving a guy from England started talking to me. He started off by asking if the drink on the table behind us was one of ours, and then went from there. He was pretty interesting to talk too, but Mal arrived to pick us up, so we had to leave. Alright by me, my feet were killing me, and I really just wanted to go home and chill. It just wasn’t the same without Mal. Slight buzzkill, but ah well. I still had fun.

After a little bit of a chat with Mal and Patrick, we went to bed… Early morning brunch on Sunday!!
