When travelling, the best thing is showing the shopping haul at the end!
Especially when you are travelling specifically to do some shopping.
Although, I didn’t really need anything – it’s always fun to check out what other places have to offer. And the USA is pretty mint for their outlet malls. Pennsylvania, in particular, is known for their outlet malls (to Canadians… Might not be such a huge deal for other US locals).
We were headed down to Philadelphia and decided to check out the King of Prussia Mall and Philadelphia Premium Outlets.
The weather wasn’t the greatest for the first day we were there, so a day of malls was perfect. We went to the Premium Outlet first since that was the furthest away.
They had some pretty sweet deals! We hit up the Tory Burch, Kate Spade, the Osh Gosh, Michael Kors, this random bookstore, Coach. You know, the usual favourites. When it comes to designers, I really only like accessories. Clothing doesn’t last long enough to warrant the price tag! Unless I can find it at a huge saving and it’s a little fancier item (like a dress).
Most places were at least 50% off the tag. That’s what makes it worth it since our dollar isn’t quite as good.
In Tory Burch, I managed to snag this super cute blue backpack close to 90% off. It was already marked down, with an extra 50%, and because it was clearance we got an extra 20% off. I hummed and hawwed, but it was such a great deal that I couldn’t pass it up. I’m using it for my baby bag!
I also purchased a wallet in that same blue colour from Tory Burch but didn’t take any pictures of it either. Whoops! But I love it. I needed a new wallet and wanted on with a full zipper around it since my Kate Spade was getting dingy and stretched out.
I also was looking for a crossbody that wasn’t super small but smaller than all of my other purses. Something easy to have with or without a baby. I was more interested in one for when I go out for the night and don’t want to bring more than the essentials. It’s still a little large but I think I’ll get lots of use out of it. I’m already planning a girls night out and this will be making its debut then!
I also managed to grab the complete Shannara Chronicles trilogy (hardcover) for $15 which is a steal. A completely random purchase, but those sometimes are the best!
After a little afternoon tea, we decided that we were finished at the outlet and it was time to hit up the King of Prussia Mall.
I was most excited about checking out the Primark at this location – I didn’t realize that they had any in the USA. I thought it was mainly a UK/Europe brand. When I was in The Hague a couple years ago, I bought a cute pair of shoes so I knew that I’d surely find something I’d like there.
Actually, I didn’t find any shoes this time, but I picked up a cute top that I’m planning on wearing for Kaiden’s first birthday party and got a bunch of stuff for Kaiden. They have a lot of cute baby stuff! Oh, and they have a lot of Harry Potter clothes. I grabbed a cute pair of PJs (the Expecto Patronum shirt). Unfortunately, they didn’t have much in terms of Ravenclaw stuff, so that was all I got!
I picked up the Totoro tee from Hot Topic (love this store for their random nerd stuff), and I love it. One can never have too much Totoro in their lives!
I did find a couple pairs of shoes though! The cute blue slingbacks are from Payless and so comfortable! Plus, I’m in love with the lower block heel. I think that these will be my go-to going out summer heel.
I picked up the knock-off Birks at Wal-Mart because I need a sandal that’s not a flip-flop. Especially while up at the cottage and walking around with Kaiden at parks this summer. I’ve already worn them so much and love them.
Of course, a trip to the US is not complete without visiting Target!
Didn’t go too wild in Target – bought nothing beauty related! But I scored those tea towels for $2.45 on clearance and because I’m a sucker for Instagram marketing – those Tasty scissors. I do actually need the scissors and the blue is such a cute colour so I’ve no regrets.
Oh, and my mom and I bought the Capricorn mug (for me) and a Sagittarius (for her). It’s a nice deep mug and it’s definitely a favourite to add to the mug rotation.
I’ll be doing a big post about the overall road trip as well as the main reason I went down to PA (for my tattoo!).
What did you think of my purchases?
