Broken Hearts is a common trope in a novel.
So it makes sense that this is a theme for a Fairyloot box! Especially when you see what the book this month is. But let’s get into the items this month first!
First up, a blanket!! Who doesn’t love a blanket? These are always so cozy and super warm. This one is a little smaller than the last one we got but it’s still a perfect throw for curling up on the sofa with a cup of tea. It’s inspired by Kingdom of the Wicked with a snake. I love the colours of it and it’s got a new home on my sofa and the kids have stolen it.
We got some smaller items in this box, like the postcard that’s inspired by We Set the Dark on Fire and the feather keychain. This month’s tarot cards are the 5 and 6 of Pentacles featuring Tarisai and Dayo from the Raybearer series. Honestly, I’m going to be sad when I have the full tarot deck! I’m loving this collection.
The trinket dish featuring Addie from the Invisible Life of Addie Larue. I love these! They definitely get used all around the house.
Sign me up for any kind of keychain. This pretty gold feather is inspired by Lore and is pretty and delicate looking. It’s so shiny!
These character cards are the highlight of the box for me.
I’m absolutely obsessed with the character cards. They’re illustrated by @morgana0aangrom and they’re SO PRETTY. Does that card on the top left look like Adam Driver to you? Definitely! I saw on her Instagram that Stephanie Garber requested him as inspiration for the character. I can’t say that I know who any of these characters are yet. Is it bad that I’m reading the book and I still don’t know who they are? These definitely make me very interested in reading the book. The characters are all from this month’s book.
THE ART ON THE INSIDE COVER!!! It’s so good. All the characters are on both ends of the book and they look so cute!
October’s ‘Vengeance is Yours’ themed book is Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber.
How far would you go for happily ever after?
For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings…until she learns that the love of her life will marry another.
Desperate to stop the wedding and to heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.
But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game—and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’d pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after or the most exquisite tragedy….

I have started this one, but I’m definitely on the fence because I haven’t loved Stephanie Garber’s other works. I could not get into Caraval to save my life and I was worried that this would affect my enjoyment of this one.
Off the top, I have actually read more of this one than I did of Caraval so that’s a plus. I’m quite enjoying it as it’s my current read right now. I think I need to go back and actually re-read it again but it seems to be picking up. I’m not sure how I feel about the characters yet but I’m sure there will be some major plot twists coming up to make my head spin.
It looks like there’s a sequel for this one as well, so I guess we’ll see if I enjoy it enough to purchase it!
Have you read this one? What did you think? Let me know!
