Red String of Fate tying you to your soulmate? Yes, please.
Threads of fate bring about the imagery of the red string and soul mates. So this definitely makes me excited for this theme and this book. Soulmates are a particular favourite trope of mine. The Asian imagery and the Spirited Away vibe of the overall book just tip this one over the top for me.
This whole box is amazing and I love the colour theme for it. The light blues and pinks are gorgeous.
I’m a sucker for a good quote and a pillowcase so SIGN ME UP. It’s already gracing my bed with the other book pillows we’ve gotten.
We also got another secret tin featuring imagery from The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea. I love these and they look amazing on the bookshelf.
I’m not a huge fan of bookmarks but I love the look of the wood ones. One can never go wrong with more stickers, although I’m not a huge fan of The Raven Boys series. The stickers look amazing though!
There was also a deck of cards but they were late so I don’t have a picture of them! But I love playing cards and they always come out so nice.
The Tarot cards are amazing and I love them. These feature The Fool and The Magician from The Daughter of the Moon Goddess.
March’s themed book is The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh.
Deadly storms have ravaged Mina’s homeland for generations. Floods sweep away entire villages, while bloody wars are waged over the few remaining resources. Her people believe the Sea God, once their protector, now curses them with death and despair. In an attempt to appease him, each year a beautiful maiden is thrown into the sea to serve as the Sea God’s bride, in the hopes that one day the “true bride” will be chosen and end the suffering.
Many believe that Shim Cheong, the most beautiful girl in the village—and the beloved of Mina’s older brother Joon—may be the legendary true bride. But on the night Cheong is to be sacrificed, Joon follows Cheong out to sea, even knowing that to interfere is a death sentence. To save her brother, Mina throws herself into the water in Cheong’s stead.
Swept away to the Spirit Realm, a magical city of lesser gods and mythical beasts, Mina seeks out the Sea God, only to find him caught in an enchanted sleep. With the help of a mysterious young man named Shin—as well as a motley crew of demons, gods and spirits—Mina sets out to wake the Sea God and bring an end to the killer storms once and for all.
But she doesn’t have much time: A human cannot live long in the land of the spirits. And there are those who would do anything to keep the Sea God from waking…

This book, again, is stunning.
The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
For those who love Spirited Away, The Little Mermaid and Howl's Moving Castle, this will be RIGHT up your alley.
This was an absolutely fantastic book to read. It was fast paced without feeling rushed. It kept me interested and I read it in one sitting.
The world building was easy because it felt real and relatable. It was easy to follow in terms of the Spirit World politics and different Lords and houses without needing to go into ad nauseum details.
Mina (MFC) was an enjoyable character without being overdone. She was the lead but she wasn't perfect. She needed help but her belief in herself and her faith made her strong. The relationship between her and Shin was relatable. It wasn't in your face which was nice with enough "drama" to keep us on our toes. I liked that she was genuinely friendly and just herself. She created bonds with people, Gods and spirits because she was authentic and wanted to help regardless of any personal gain.
Shin is 10/10 perfect *chef's kiss*. Antagonistic enough to be a bit of a bad boy but so, so soft and squishy on the inside.
The supporting characters were great, Kirin and Nambi were enjoyable with their own banter and tensions which I enjoyed.
The plot twist was probably a little predictable because it does track with the Spirited Away plot, but that didn't take away from the book at all. It was still different enough that it felt like a comfort story.
I'm definitely glad that this one is on my shelf because it'd be worth a reread for sure!
I totally recommend this one. Hype is good for this one!

Threads of fate theme? CHECK. I love the colour themes, I love the Asian symbolism in this book as well. Plus dragons and the spirit realm!
The cover, the artwork on the end pages, and the digitally sprayed edges. It’s just perfection.
Is this book on your to-read list? It should be!
