Are you ready for all the gold sparkle in this month’s box?
Let the Games Begin! I’m pretty sure when I saw this edition of the book, I gasped. I can’t even with how beautiful this copy is. The gold, the SPARKLE edges, it’s absolutely stunning.
This month’s box of goodies was all stunning.
I felt that this box had more of a colour theme than usual too. Black and metallic – don’t you agree?
I have to say, I originally wasn’t a fan of the book bags but they are growing on me! Each one is so unique and while I do have some design favourites this one jumps to the top! I love that there is two different images on each side, and I love the colours.
The notebook is a great addition too. A nice hardcover journal with an awesome quote and I love the silver metallic shine to it.
There was a bunch of smaller items but all are amazing.
The metal bookmark with the cat cutout is glorious. Such a nice weight to it, and of course, with a tassel! I love the magnet as well, it immediately went up on the fridge. And who doesn’t love a pin? My pinboard is filling out quite nicely. This pin has a quote from The Shadows Between Us: “Love is an Excellent motivator to kill”.
Last but not least, the bath bomb. I didn’t take a picture of it out of it’s box because I literally did not want my kitchen to be covered in gold sparkle dust, but IT’S SO SPARKLY. It covered my book a little and it smells amazing. I’m a little scared to use it because I’m sure that the tub will be covered in gold glitter for days. [AN: I did use it and it smelled amazing. I made sure to clean it up immediately, but yes – it was glitter upon glitter.]
I feel like I never know which way the themes are going to turn out. ‘Let the Games Begin’. I think my mind immediately went to versions of Hunger Games, or even the Percy Jackson series… with mythical heroes in contemporary settings.
I’m pretty sure that this book is bang on with that assumption.
The August “Let the Games Begin” themed book is Star Daughter by Shevta Thakrar.
If the night sky holds many secrets, it holds Sheetal Mistry’s secret the closest. A secret that explains why her hair is the silver of starlight, or why some nights the stars call Sheetal by name.
Stars like her mother, who returned to her place in the constellation Pushya years ago. Since that day, Sheetal has been forced to hide.
But as her seventeenth birthday draws near, the pull from the sky is growing stronger. So strong that Sheetal loses control, and a flare of starfire burns her human father—an injury only a full star’s blood can heal.
Sheetal has no choice but to answer the starsong and ascend to the sky. But her celestial family has summoned her for a reason: to act as their human champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of heavens.
Desperate to save her father, Sheetal agrees. But nothing could have prepared Sheetal to face the stars’ dark history—or the forces that are working to shut the gate between the realms for good.
From Goodreads
Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to really sit down and read this one yet! I have started it, and I’m intrigued by it so far.
I like that it’s set in a more contemporary age but with this dash of magic that isn’t common knowledge to everyone. The main character keeps it a secret from everyone but a few close family members.
I definitely look forward to finishing it though and will post my review as soon as I do.
Honestly, Fairyloot’s boxes have just been getting better and better and I can’t wait to post about the next boxes!
