Where did 2022 go?
I sincerely feel like the past 2 years have not happened. Even though personally I feel like I’ve never been more “right where I’m supposed to be”.
But really… how did 2022 just seem to fly by? Life seems to be back to normal and is business as usual. Kids are in school, I’ve been working more again, and just general life stuff has been filling my time. Sometimes it seems like the same things day in and out fill our days.
There were some key stand-out moments!
Of course, the most obvious and most recent would be the fact that our Canadian government finally removed all the Covid restrictions! That meant that we could finally leave the country and go on a vacation. And did we ever vacation! 3 weeks in Mexico with the family.
Another stand-out moment was getting a puppy!! We welcomed Bailey into our family back in August and she’s been such a joy to have in our family. She’s going to be a big girl. She’s a St. Bernard x Caucasian Shepard cross and so FLUFFY. It’s been a bit of a wild ride and I’m glad to be out of the major puppy-biting phase that’s for sure. She has tripled in size since we got her and she’s nowhere near done!
I was able to participate in the wedding of one of my best friends this past summer. Being her maid of honour and watching her walk down the aisle was amazing. It was the perfect day and the perfect weekend. It couldn’t have been more like her in any way. A nice thing was that we got to hang out a lot more last year than we have in recent years because life just happens that way. So I’m looking forward to bringing that energy into 2023.
So what’s my intuition saying for 2023?
I touched briefly on it in my last post, but I’m ready to start writing here again. I’m going to bring it back to the early 2010s when I didn’t worry about numbers or reviews and just wrote like it was a journal. I will review things but they will be set up differently and hopefully more enjoyable to write and read. I also just want to write about what’s on my mind and going on in my life again. It feels like I was just writing about the Fairyloot boxes (which isn’t a bad thing) but definitely not all that’s happening around here!
Some other things I want to do is keep my house and life more clutter-free. Enjoy life. Get more sleep. Or better sleep. Prioritize health and family. Try not to stress about the state of the world. Take ownership of what I can control. Wash my face. You know, keeping it simple.
I’m really about the idea of learning and gaining knowledge from the elder generations before it’s lost forever. I want to relearn how to sew and how to read patterns from my parents. Start writing down family recipes that no one knows, other than them. Andrew’s started doing this with other friends as well, like learning how to make sausage and cured meats. I’d love to do a tomato day with them too!
Things to look ahead to in 2023
My brother-in-law is getting married! So it’s been full of family events and fun things, and who doesn’t love a wedding?
I’m starting a mailing list. Once a month, an update about the posts on social media, here, and what things have caught my eye will be available to sign up for. I haven’t set it up yet, but it should be running soon.
I want to keep things chill and make sure that my gut intuition is what’s driving my decisions.
A lot of things have changed over the past couple of years, especially with my mindset. I need to be able to write the way I talk, otherwise, I don’t see the point. I hope you’re down for the journey!
