Three September Book Releases To Know About

September 30 was a big release day for lots of books!
I was blessed enough to receive three new releases for review and I’m so excited to share them.
The Witch’s Altar Book by Nicole Weiss, Rachel Patterson, & Lindsay Squire
Three witches – gens X, Y and Z – the maiden, the mother, the crone – work together to produce the definitive guide to modern witchcraft. Whether you’re a hedge witch, an eclectic witch, a sea witch or a kitchen witch, you need an altar to perform your spells and rituals, and this is a book designed for that sacred space.
Beautifully illustrated throughout, this will be a book to return to again and again.
This is a beautiful book to adorn one’s altar space. It’s an all-in-one resource geared towards beginners or light dabblers. I love the concept of the authors completing the Triple Goddess tripartite, as they are also from very different forms of magic. I’ll be reaching for this any time I need a reference. This was released on September 30, 2025.
The Healing Wisdom of the Forest by Anthony D Fredericks
Unlock the power of personal wisdom with nature’s best teacher: trees, sentinels of both understanding and insight.
In every civilized country, trees have been revered for their arboreal wisdom, common sense modeling, botanical philosophy, and lifelong acumen. They are, without argument, icons of counsel and direction. Trees offer commending insights for our lives…lives succumbed to stress, anxiety, and loss of focus. Trees are, in so many ways, individual examples of determination, vibrancy, and passion; not for a moment, but rather for a lifetime. The Healing Wisdom of Trees offers sixty-five separate essays of practical advice that can change lives for the better; a collection of scientific and psychological insights that can renew and reinvigorate for the long term.
This is not a book about spirituality, trees that talk to us, or ever-knowing sprites that gambol through the forest. It is a collection of compelling anecdotes and vivid stories about how trees serve as valuable models for our lives; how we can deal with the challenges of everyday living, and how we can grow as individuals. With the best-selling author of The Secret Life of Clams and In Search of the Old Ones, Anthony D. Fredericks, you’ll venture into a redwood forest to learn about how trees show us the importance of community, you’ll discover how peach trees model the power of friendship, you’ll see how cherry trees exemplify the significance of calmness, and you’ll learn how aspens demonstrate our need to draw strength from others. Here, trees are our mentors and our teachers.
Part travelogue, part natural history, part science, and part psychology, this absorbing book shows us how we can reinvigorate our lives, reduce everyday stress, and bring out the best in ourselves when we heed the wisdom of trees.
A series of essays that blend very short anecdotes from the author’s life alongside prompts to help put them into practice, as well as prompts to journal about. First, I won’t lie, I’m amazed that there are enough references to trees/forests that he can have a quote at the beginning of every chapter. I love that! This is one that you can read from front to back, in order, and complete the prompts. You can pick a random chapter whose title resonates with you and complete those prompts. OR flip to a chapter at random and see what you get. Leave it up to the universe—bonus points for doing it outside in a forest after grounding yourself.
I’ll be trying that out when I’m up at the cottage next weekend.
End Emotional Outsourcing by Beatriz Victoria Albina NP MPH SEP
From a certified somatic life coach, a feminist guide to reclaiming your self-worth and having healthier relationships—perfect for readers of Burnout and The Body Is Not an Apology.
Do you say “yes” when you mean “no”? Do you end up in lopsided relationships, feeling resentful but not sure how to speak up? Do you feel anxious, struggle with perfectionism and imposter syndrome, or feel like you’ve lost touch with your true self? You’re not alone: Thousands of people, especially those of us socialized as women, struggle with Emotional Outsourcing—a term nurse practitioner and life coach Beatriz Victoria Albina coined to describe the codependent habits that keep us stuck.
In End Emotional Outsourcing, Albina explores the origins—both personal and systemic—of these tendencies, and coaches readers through a science-backed program of thought work and somatic practices. Readers will learn to:
·Regulate their nervous systems
·Reframe their habitual thoughts and actions
·Take back their time and energy
·Improve relationships with parents, friends, and partners
·Discover their inherent self-worth and lovability
Groundbreaking, healing, and urgent, End Emotional Outsourcing is poised to change the conversation about codependency, and help an entire generation of women step into their power.
This is such an interesting topic to me. It’s not necessarily me. I have some of the traits (of course, I’m human), but I wouldn’t say that I’m a co-dependent people-pleaser who has lost touch with themselves. However, I love reading these books because they can sometimes highlight traits in other people, and I enjoy being able to recommend them to others who might find them helpful.
Another excellent resource, featuring engaging journal prompts, personal anecdotes, and the research that supports them all. It’s a liberal-leaning book, so if that’s not your jam, I’d give this one a miss.
Overall thoughts
These are a great haul of books! I love the Witch’s Altar, and it’ll be a great future resource. I’m going to lend out “End Emotional Outsourcing” to someone who needs it once I’ve finished reading through it, and I’ll do the same with “The Healing Wisdom of the Forest.”
Are these going to be added to your TBR? Let me know!
