What if Death was a real being and couldn’t touch you?
Well, no spoilers but that’s what happens in September’s book. I’ve never read anything by Adalyn Grace, but this book makes me want to pick up them all!
September’s ‘Farewell My Love’ themed book was Belladonna by Adalyn Grace.
New York Times bestselling author Adalyn Grace brings to life a highly romantic, Gothic-infused world of wealth, desire, and betrayal.
Orphaned as a baby, nineteen-year-old Signa has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her well-being—and each has met an untimely end. Her remaining relatives are the elusive Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at Thorn Grove, an estate both glittering and gloomy. Its patriarch mourns his late wife through wild parties, while his son grapples for control of the family’s waning reputation, and his daughter suffers from a mysterious illness. But when their mother’s restless spirit appears claiming she was poisoned, Signa realizes that the family she depends on could be in grave danger and enlists the help of a surly stable boy to hunt down the killer.

However, Signa’s best chance of uncovering the murderer is an alliance with Death himself, a fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side. Though he’s made her life a living hell, Death shows Signa that their growing connection may be more powerful—and more irresistible—than she ever dared imagine.
This book was excellent. I’m pretty sure that I devoured this one in one sitting. I loved the concept that Death was a tangible person and I liked the idea that Death couldn’t kill her. I do feel like she was a little bit drawn out in her anger? dislike? of Death and the fact that she couldn’t die. I feel like it took her a long time to come to terms with it, even though she knew her whole life. I enjoyed the fact that it read a little bit like a soulmate trope and I like that she could use his powers. I am definitely going to be getting the sequel because of course there’s more death to be had. I loved the fact that this was a murder mystery as well. It went quite well with the theme and I did not see that plot twist coming!
Now on to the Farewell My Love-themed items!
This one was a wild ride. I think there was a definite win and a loss. I’m not a huge fan of coasters so while the botanic coasters are pretty, I just dislike them in general.
But I LOVE their blankets!!! So this Six Crimson Cranes inspired one is so fluffy, so pretty and so cozy. I love it. I use it on my bed all the time. I love the art style this portrays!
I love the trinket dish collection, and of course, who doesn’t love Cardan. I really need to get back into that series (along with so many others!). The tin is always a win, and this one is Belladonna themed. I love the colour choices for this one!
The tarot cards are Death and the Hanged Man, which feature Death and Signa.
And that’s September in a nutshell.
I’m almost done with the boxes that I have and I’m attempting to read them all before I get these posted too. I’ve been pretty good about how much reading I’m doing – just need to be better at reading what I need to read.
I’ve already read November’s book so I’m ahead? Haha, until next time!
