Hidden Identities is such a spot-on theme for this April box.
There were a lot of fun goodies in this box but the book actually took front and centre for me. The reverse dust jacket art is just so pretty and the stencilled pages with the keyholes are just perfection. Everything about this book is *chef’s kiss* perfecto. Paint me absolutely obsessed.
I love a good tote and this one is great. Deep, with fantastic art. I’m going to be updating all my grocery bags soon with the amount of tote bags I own now.
The metal bookends are really nice, probably the main highlight for the items in this box. They’re really pretty to look at and they feel really nice. I can’t wait to have a bookshelf to put them on.
The foiled bookmarks feature characters from The Poppy War, Blood Heir, and An Ember in the Ashes series. Talia Nobel designed them and they are very pretty. The Seven and Eight of Wands tarot cards are inspired by the Serpent and Dove series. The art beautifully captures the characters.
I am a sucker for a good enamel pin.
Although I haven’t read the series this quote is from its pretty universal “Greatness Takes Time”. The soap is really nice as well, a very pretty pink!
The April ‘Hidden Identities’ themed book is The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni.

I could not put this one down. I finished this in one day.
It was definitely an easy read, flowed well, and kept me interested. If you are a fan of Sarah J Maas then this would be one that you’ll want to pick up. I’m also a huge fan of the codes, which is reminscent of Artemis Fowl (for me) and I immediately wanted to make a key.
Kiva, the Prison Healer, has been in the prison since she was 7 years old for no reason other than being with her father. This prison is pretty bleak, it’s the prison for every kingdom in Wenderall and is left alone for the most part to govern itself.
There are multiple plot points – political rebels, a mysterious stomach virus sweeping the prison, Kiva undertaking the Ordeal trials, and of course, the relationship between Kiva and Jaren.
No spoilers (obviously) but damn, those last hundred pages or so had me freaking out. While one of the plot twists was a little more obvious due to some of the hints it still had me gasping out loud. While others probably would have found it obvious, I’m always shocked by the outcomes. I never see the twist coming or guess correctly. I definitely was shocked by all the revelations.
I enjoy the relationships that Kiva builds during the books because of Jaren, she comes a little more out of her shell. I’m definitely looking forward to the 2nd book in the series, although this is where I got more SJM vibes with the ending, and I guess even with the whole prison location. I feel like I have an idea of where this series is going for the endgame but I have absolutely no idea how it will play out.
This was entirely too enjoyable for me and means that I’ll be spending more money when the sequels follow.

Overall, I’m loving this box. Some of the items are a bit of a miss for me but the book more than makes up for it!
I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel and I’m looking forward to May’s box!
