I’ve recently been reading and buying Harper’s Bazaar more than any other magazine, and as my Elle subscription has come up, and I really can’t afford to do any other one right now, I buy them when I see someone that I like on the covers. As well as the September issues of almost all magazines.
In the last issue that I purchased, there was an article that really stuck with me. Titled “Looking Better at 45 then 25” it was written by Elizabeth Wurtzel. Now, I won’t lie when I say that before this article I had never heard of her before. Now, I’m tempted to go out an buy all her books.

The gist of the article is that women in their 20’s, aka my age group, are just letting themselves go in our prime. Of course, this article doesn’t mean everyone is dressed like a sloppy pig. But I could relate. I rarely walk out of the door with a stitch of make up on, and I go to work sometimes quite lazily. No makeup, no effort put into my outfit, nothing done with my hair except it’s thrown up in a messy bun.
Since reading this article, I’ve definitely been trying to make more of an effort. It’s hard, I won’t lie. I like my sleep in the morning, and I dislike going to bed early. It’s a vicious cycle which leaves me with no time in the morning to put make up on. But I’m working at it. And one day, I will acheive this. Like she says, it’s all about the effort.
